In early September, I had the opportunity to participate in the 16th International Anti-Corruption Conference (IACC) that took place in Putrajaya, Malaysia. For me, the IACC was not just a conference to learn from the most influential people in the governance and transparency fields, but rather a chance to collaborate with other delegates to find the most effective strategies to stop impunity and hold to account those who benefit from the abuse of power. Participating in this conference has allowed me to explore cost-effective and participatory approaches to strengthen my own work at the Accountability Lab.

This Week I’m at the Human Rights Film Festival in Argentina


Why we support film

At the IACC we are keen believers in the power of film to convey important messages about social justice. This week I’ll be in Argentina to award a prize at the 16th International Festival for Human Rights Film in Argentina, because like the Festival, we also “view the cinema as a fundamental tool for raising awareness of social problems and the potential transformation of society through art.” Working in corruption, we also know that documentary film is very good at transforming complex issues into personal stories that we can all relate to. Really good documentaries take the abstract and make it personal; take the theoretical and make it real. READ MORE
